ACC decides to issue notice to Biplab Kumar regarding source of assets exceeding Tk 1 crore

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to seek a statement of assets from Biplab Kumar Sarkar, the former Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. ACC Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman Khan stated that this decision follows an investigation by the agency which uncovered information regarding his possession of assets worth Tk 1,03,62,597 that are disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The decision to issue the notice was finalized on Sunday (September 27) at the ACC's headquarters. The notice will require Biplab Kumar to provide details regarding the movable and immovable assets, liabilities, and sources of income held in his name and in the names of his dependents.
According to ACC regulations, the asset statement must be submitted in the prescribed format within 21 working days of receiving the notice. Failure to submit the statement on time, or the provision of incorrect or false information, may result in legal action under ACC laws. The ACC's investigation into the source of the assets is ongoing; no information regarding a final court verdict on the matter has been reported.
Earlier, on January 1, a court ordered the freezing of 28 bank accounts and two BO accounts held in the names of Biplab Kumar and his wife, Hosneara Begum. A travel ban was also imposed on four individuals, including Biplab Kumar and his wife.
