Govt got Rs 14 crore from cash without investment: Palak

The government has received more than Tk 140 crore in four years from mobile financial service Naqd by just allowing the infrastructure to be used without making any kind of investment. Out of this, the government's income is more than 5.5 million rupees in the current financial year alone.

State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak gave this information in the speech of the chief guest at a function organized on the occasion of World Telecommunication Day celebration at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Friday.

The state minister said that in the current financial year, the postal department has received a revenue share of about five and a half crore rupees from cash. He said, "Without making any investment, we have been able to generate revenue through infrastructure and policy support. So far we have received a total of more than 14 crore rupees from Naqd.

The State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology also said that this is a unique achievement for the postal department.

Cash started in 2019 based on an agreement with the Department of Posts. According to the revenue sharing agreement, the postal department gets 51 percent of the cash revenue. It is known that 5 crore 51 lakh cash has been given to the postal department in 2023. In 2022 they received 4 crore 50 lakhs from cash. In 2021, the postal department's income from cash was Tk 3.32 lakh crore. In the previous year, the government received a revenue of Tk 1.12 crore.

On the occasion, the minister said that artificial intelligence will make life easier for people as well as it is a big threat to civilization. The state minister said the government is going to enact laws to deal with the challenges of technology, especially the adverse effects of AI.
