The rumors of Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, known as 'Khiladi Kumar', quitting the acting world have been circulating in Balipara recently. This rumor is believed to have started after his recently released film 'Bhoot Bangla' received mixed reviews at the box office. However, the actor himself has said that he has no plans to retire for now.
At the trailer launch of the film 'Welcome to the Jungle' on Thursday, he clarified his position on the matter.
At the event, Akshay Kumar said that when he wakes up at 4 am, sometimes the thought of retirement comes to mind. But within a few seconds, he remembers that he is shooting and about 300 people are waiting for him on the set. He said, "For five seconds, I think I will retire. Then I remember work again. This is how 36 years have passed."
He also said in a humorous way that after retirement, he may have to do work like electrician, dog walking or gardening. So, continuing to work seems good to him. “I will not retire, that is good,” the actor added.
On the question of spending more time with his family, Akshay said that he tried to take a break once. But after a day, his family asked him to return to work. His comment was, “Working is better.”
Regarding retirement, he also said, “People should retire only when they have five seconds left in their lives. At the time of death, they will say – I am retiring. Before that, they should work.”
Akshay Kumar made his debut in the lead role with the film ‘Saugandh’ in 1991. In a career spanning more than three decades, he has acted in more than 150 films. Some of his notable films include ‘Khiladi’, ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Welcome’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, ‘Rowdy Rathore’, ‘Airlift’ and ‘Kesari’.
Recently, his films ‘Sky Force’, ‘Housefull 5’, ‘Jolly LLB 3’ and ‘Bhoot Bangla’ have been released.
