A charge sheet has been filed in court against singer Nobel for allegedly raping, torturing and videotaping a student of Eden College while she was locked up at home. On November 29, Demra Police Station Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Murad Hossain submitted the charge sheet to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court.

On Monday (December 15), Sub-Inspector (SI) Ilamoni of the Women and Child Repression Prevention Prosecution Department confirmed the matter and said that the charge sheet will be formally presented in court on December 28. Later, the case will be sent to the Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal for trial.

In the background of the case, it is known that on May 19, the student of Eden College filed a case against Nobel under the Rape, Torture and Pornography Act. After the case, Nobel was arrested and sent to jail. Later, he was granted bail on the condition of marriage. Then, on June 19, Nobel married the girl in Dhaka Central Jail for a dowry of 1 million taka.

Nobel's lawyer Mostaq Ahmed claimed that since Nobel is married to the plaintiff in the case and is currently living a family, she will not have any problems with the charge sheet. He expressed hope that if the plaintiff files a defamation case in the judicial tribunal, the case will be settled and Nobel will be acquitted.

However, the charge sheet presents a different picture. It says that the girl developed a love relationship with Nobel based on her acquaintance on social media. According to the complaint, on November 12, 2024, Nobel took her to Demra's house on the pretext of showing her the studio. There, she was detained, her mobile phone and money were taken away. The girl was then raped and the scene was videotaped. She was also threatened with spreading the video if she did not comply.

The complaint further states that the girl was detained in that Demra house for about six months and was regularly beaten. The charge sheet also mentions that Nobel used to drag her by the hair and lock her in a room with the help of some associates.

At one stage, when the video of the torture went viral on social media, the victim's parents were able to identify her. Later, with the help of her family and the police, she was rescued on May 19. The police arrested Nobel on the same day.

The investigation officer mentioned in the charge sheet that the initial truth of the plaintiff's complaint has been found. Nobel detained the plaintiff and raped her multiple times and saved the video on his mobile phone. If she was not at home, he would threaten to spread the video on social media. The charge sheet also states that there were several incidents of beating her while intoxicated.

In addition, the charge sheet also states that several other associates of Nobel were involved in the beating and rape of the plaintiff. However, their names and addresses could not be identified during the investigation. The investigation officer said that a supplementary charge sheet will be filed if their identities are found in the future.

All in all, even after marriage, the serious allegations brought against Nobel are still being heard in court, and the direction in which they ultimately turn will depend on the judicial process.
