Popular actor Nasir Uddin Khan, who came into the limelight for playing the role of ‘Allen Swapan’ in the OTT world, is now facing a new experience. Recently, during the shooting of a web series called ‘Naya Note’, he acted in the Farmgate area dressed as a beggar. The get-up was so perfect that passersby mistook him for a real beggar and gave him money. And in the shooting of the first scene of the day, he collected about 500 taka by begging.
Nasir Uddin Khan said in an interview that due to the limited budget, the shooting was done with a hidden camera from above the Farmgate footover. He was told to go and touch people like an ordinary beggar. So that the audience would not suspect, he prepared for the character in advance.
The actor said, ‘In the first scene, many people avoided me while I was begging, but some gave me money. Later, I saw that I had collected about five hundred taka. Then I thought, Wow, this is a good way to earn money!’
However, through this experience, he realized that although begging is an easy way, there is dishonor and the pain of losing self-respect in it. Nasir said, ‘No one can just give up. Because it is associated with a place of honor. That is why most people do not want to go down this path.’
The director of the web series, Ananya Pratik Chowdhury, said that the money received by begging during the shooting was preserved as a memory. The story highlights various perceptions of life through that money.
AK Azad Setu, Samu Chowdhury, Deepa Khandaker, Partha Sheikh and Nauba Tahiya also star in the ‘Naya Note’ web series. The series has already been released on the iScreen platform.
