Dhaka: Popular film actress Parimani arrived at the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court premises in a white Prado car on Monday morning. She was accompanied by lawyers, with whom she took the elevator to the courtroom on the seventh floor of the CJM court. Parimani surrendered to the court at around 10 am and applied for bail in the case filed by businessman Nasir U Mahmud (Nasir Uddin Mahmud) alleging assault and attempted murder.
During the hearing, her lawyer Nilanjana Rifat presented her arguments on behalf of Parimani. Later, the court granted Parimani bail. After receiving bail, Parimani sat on the bench in the courtroom. Her lawyer prepared the bail bond, which was signed by two sureties. Then Parimani came down to the ground floor of the court building.
After getting bail, Parimani spoke to reporters standing on the ground floor of the court building. She said, “I am very happy that I have received so much love from you. I believe that I will get justice from the court. Today I will get justice from the court.”
Also, after getting bail, a post was made on Parimani’s verified Facebook page, which read, “Alhamdulillah.”
Earlier, the court framed charges against Parimani last Sunday in a case filed by businessman Nasir. An arrest warrant was issued against Parimani as she did not appear in court. Charges were also framed against Parimani’s costume designer Junaid Bogdadi Jimmy in the same case and an arrest warrant was also issued against him.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) investigated the case and submitted its report to the CJM court in April last year. After this, charges were framed against Parimani and Junaid in this case yesterday.
Businessman Nasir filed a complaint in a Dhaka court on July 18, 2022, alleging assault and attempted murder. In the case, he alleged that on June 8, 2021, Parimoni and his associates entered the boat club in Savar and used the washroom, and later drank alcohol inside the club. Then, when he was leaving the club around 1:15 am, Parimoni pressured him to give her blue label alcohol and abused her when she refused. At one point, Parimoni threw a glass at him, which hit him on the head and chest.
On June 8, 2021, Parimoni filed a case against businessman Nasir and six others on charges of rape and attempted murder at the Dhaka Boat Club in Birulia, Savar. After the investigation, the police submitted a chargesheet against three people, including Nasir, to the court on September 6, 2022. The case is currently at the stage of taking evidence.
Additionally, the trial against Parimoni and three others in a Narcotics Control Act case is ongoing at Dhaka's Special Judge's Court-10, which is still in the testimony-taking stage.
