Runa Khan's film 'Neelpadma' will be screened at the Dhaka International Film Festival this afternoon at the North South University Auditorium in the capital. Runa Khan spoke to More News about this film and other issues in an interview.
The first screening of the film 'Neelpadma' was held last Wednesday. Regarding the audience's reaction, Runa said, "Everyone who saw the film has given a very positive response. I was a little nervous at the beginning, but when I watched the film with the audience, I saw that the audience was identifying with my character 'Neel'. This is a great joy for an actor."
Regarding the shooting of the film 'Neelpadma', Runa said, "This film is not like other films. It is a story-based film, which is made about the lives and social status of sex workers. I spent a lot of time in Daulatdia Palli for the film. There, I had many conversations with girls and received a love from them that I have never received anywhere else. Their behavior reminded me that everyone is human above all else.”
Regarding the importance of life-like stories, Runa said, “The budget for such films is low, but some directors are working on such stories. ‘Neelpadma’ director Toufiq Elahi has done the job with his limited budget, which I personally applaud.”
Regarding the character she plays, Runa said, “My work can never fully satisfy me. There is always a feeling of incompleteness. However, if the message of this film reaches a section of the society, then we will be successful.”
Regarding her current career assessment, Runa said, “I consider myself one of the most successful and happiest people in the world. I have tasted everything in life—happiness in the world, success in my personal life, and what else is needed!”
Regarding the praise from her colleagues, she said, “When someone praises me behind my back, it inspires my work. "But it feels a little embarrassing to hear praise face to face."
