Actress Nipun Akhter was not allowed to board a flight to the UK from Sylhet Osmani International Airport. The incident occurred on Friday morning. Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam confirmed the matter.
The source said that Nipun was preparing to board Bangladesh Biman's BG201 flight from Sylhet to Heathrow Airport in the UK at 10 am. However, she was stopped due to objections from the intelligence agency during the immigration process.
Sylhet Airport Director Hafiz Ahmed said that Nipun was wearing a mask and glasses when she appeared at immigration. Her passport had the name Nasrin Akhter. The intelligence agency alerted the immigration authorities as the matter seemed suspicious.
Later, the immigration authorities canceled Nipun's journey and handed her over to the immigration police. She returned to Dhaka by road from the airport.
Meanwhile, actress Nipun Akhter has claimed that the incident is baseless. She said, "False news is being spread. I do not want to comment on this matter."
Meanwhile, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam said that there is no case against Nipun Akhter. He was offloaded from the flight due to objections from the intelligence agency.
