The third largest Math and Science Olympiad was held in Savar to develop students' scientific minds. About 5,000 students from grades 5 to 10 from about 84 schools in Savar participated in the competition organized on Saturday morning at the Savar Model College premises.
In the competition, students participated in subject-based questions and answers on mathematics and science at various stages, which helped in increasing their analytical skills and creativity.
This Olympiad was organized by the Savar Science Society—a student-run foundation, which is made up of students studying in various public universities from Savar. According to the organizers, such competitions increase students' interest in studies and create a healthy competitive mentality among them.
Abu Bakkar Siddique, chairman of the organization, was present at the event. He said, "Our goal is to develop the future generation as talented and enlightened people through the practice of science and mathematics among students."
Students and parents participating in the Olympiad expressed satisfaction with such an initiative and called for such events to be held regularly in the future.
