The private Mirpur College, which was suffering from various irregularities and corruption, has been appointed by the government as the new principal. Abul Ubayd Muhammad Baset Thakur, a professor of the Bengali Department of Rajbari Government College, has been given this responsibility in a recent notification by the Ministry of Education.
According to sources in the Ministry of Education, the college has been a victim of political influence and irregularities for a long time. In 2012, party influence was proven in the appointment of administration and teachers. In addition, extreme chaos was created in the academic, economic and administrative activities of the college.
The previous principal, Golam Wadud, was dismissed on charges of corruption. His next acting principal, AHM Mahbubur Rahman, was temporarily suspended on charges of involvement in various irregularities and political activities. After that, senior teacher Dr. Ahmed Ali took over, but his term ended in February.
It is known about the current situation of the college that the academic and administrative activities of the college were being conducted through acting principals, which had a serious impact on discipline and results.
The newly appointed principal, Abul Ubayd Muhammad Baset Thakur, said, "The government has appointed me as the principal considering me worthy. I will try my best to take the college forward. I will not tolerate any irregularities or corruption. I expect everyone's cooperation in running the college."
Experts believe that the assumption of responsibility of the education cadre officer will bring positive changes in the academic discipline and administrative activities of the college.
