A court has banned Faisal Karim Masud, the main accused in the murder case of Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, and his wife Shaheda Parveen Samia from traveling abroad. The order was issued in response to an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) as part of its investigation into corruption allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md. Shahjahan Kabir issued the order on Monday (August 31) in response to an application by the ACC.

Court order after ACC application

On this day, the agency's Assistant Director Md. Saifur Rahman applied to the court on behalf of the agency, seeking a ban on Faisal Karim Masud and his wife Shaheda Parveen Samia from traveling abroad.

The application states that the allegations of transactions worth Tk 127 crore in the bank accounts of Faisal Karim Masud and his interested parties are under investigation.

The ACC claims that during the investigation, they learned from reliable sources that the individuals involved in the allegations may flee the country and flee abroad. The court was requested to ban them from traveling abroad for the sake of a fair investigation of the allegations.

In view of this, the court banned Faisal Karim Masud and his wife Shaheda Parveen Samia from traveling abroad.

Faisal detained in jail in India

Faisal Karim Masud is currently detained in an Indian jail.

On March 8, the West Bengal Police and the Special Task Force (STF) of India jointly arrested him from the Bangaon border area. Since then, he has been detained in an Indian jail.

In addition to investigating the Hadi murder, the ACC is also investigating allegations of financial irregularities against Faisal Karim Masud and his associates.

Investigation into allegations of transactions worth Tk 127 crore

According to the ACC application, information has been found about a huge amount of money being transferred to the bank accounts of Faisal Karim Masud and his interested parties. Out of this, the allegations of transactions worth Tk 127 crore are under investigation.

However, whether any crime has been committed in this money transaction or not is still a matter of investigation. After the ACC investigation, further legal action will be taken regarding the allegations.

As a result of the latest court order, the ban on foreign travel against Faisal Karim Masud and his wife Shaheda Parveen Samia will remain in effect.
