A 7-month-old baby has died in Dhaka’s Turag area following an alleged incident linked to a family dispute. The child was reportedly taken from her mother’s arms and thrown to the ground. Police have arrested the baby’s father, Kabir Hossain, in connection with the incident.

The deceased child was identified as Rafa Moni, also known as Kabita. She died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday (July 16).

According to police and family members, an argument broke out between the child’s parents over a family matter on Wednesday evening (July 15) at Kamarpara Fulbaria area in Turag, Dhaka. During the dispute, Kabir Hossain allegedly took the child from her mother and threw her to the ground.

The injured baby was first taken to a nearby hospital by locals. Later, as her condition worsened, she was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where she died during treatment.

The child’s mother, Lima Akter, said Rafa Moni was their only child. She alleged that her husband did not work regularly and sometimes used drugs, which often led to conflicts between them.

Turag Police Station officials said the child’s father was detained shortly after the incident. A preliminary investigation found that a family dispute may have been behind the incident. Police have filed a murder case and shown Kabir Hossain arrested in the case.

Authorities said further investigation is underway to determine the full details of the incident.
