The court has rejected the bail application of former Soami Television Managing Director Ahmed Jobayer in a case filed on charges of fraud, breach of trust and forgery of documents.

A hearing was held on the bail application in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Israt Jahan on Sunday. The accused applied for bail, but the state opposed it. After hearing the arguments of both parties, the court rejected the application.

Ahmed Jobayer served as the Managing Director and CEO of Soami Media Limited.

According to his lawyer Farhad Hossain, Ahmed Jobayer has been in jail since June 18. An application was made to consider bail in his case as some of the accused in the same case are on bail.

According to the case file, an arrest warrant was issued against Ahmed Jobayer and six others on June 17 for not appearing on the scheduled date despite receiving a court summons. The next day, he surrendered to the court and sought bail, but the court rejected the application and ordered him to be sent to prison.

The defense lawyer told the court that the other three defendants in the case were granted bail that day. However, in the current hearing, Ahmed Jobayer's bail application was again rejected after considering the objections of the state and the case documents.

Earlier, a person named Syed Asaduzzaman filed the case in the Dhaka court on May 10. The case has been charged with fraud, criminal breach of trust and forgery of documents.

After the initial hearing, the court issued summons to the accused to appear by June 17. Arrest warrants were later issued against them for not appearing on the scheduled date.

The case is currently under trial. There is no opportunity to consider the charges as proven crimes before the court's final verdict.
