Another accused, who was a minor at the time of the crime, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in the same case. The verdict was announced on Thursday (July 9), just 25 days after the incident.

The three accused who were sentenced are Arif Mia, Hasan Rakib and Abu Saim. Each of them has also been fined Tk 200,000. Judge Sudipta Sarkar of the Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal gave the verdict.

On the other hand, Judge Mejbah Uddin Ahmed of the Women and Children Abuse Prevention Tribunal sentenced another 16-year-old accused to 10 years in prison. All four accused were present in the court when the verdict was announced.

State lawyer Bazlul Karim Chowdhury confirmed the verdict. Expressing satisfaction with the verdict, the child's parents demanded its immediate implementation. However, the defendant's lawyer said that they would appeal to the High Court.

According to the case file, after violence was inflicted on the child in Dhobaura on June 14, he was thrown into the river. He later died. The next day, the child's father filed a case with Dhobaura Police Station accusing unknown people.

Police arrested four people during the investigation. Later, they gave statements in court about their involvement in the incident. Nine days after the incident, a charge sheet was submitted to the court against the four accused on June 23.

After that, the verdict in the case was announced 25 days after the incident after taking the testimonies of 19 witnesses and after arguments from both sides.
