1 arrested for attempting to rape a child by promising food

Police have arrested a man for attempting to rape a 10-year-old madrasa student by promising food in Hili, Hakimpur, Dinajpur. On Tuesday morning, locals detained the accused Sajjad Hossain and handed him over to the police.

Police said that the child was on his way home from the madrasa to get food on Sunday afternoon. At that time, it was alleged that his neighbor Sajjad took him to his house on the pretext of food. Later, when the child told his classmate about the matter, the madrasa authorities and the family came to know about the incident.

When the family filed a case with the police station, the police arrested the accused. When the accused tried to escape, the locals detained him and informed the police.

Hakimpur Police Station OC Zakir Hossain said that the accused has been arrested after the case was filed and necessary legal measures are being taken for the child's safety and security.
