30 kg of marijuana recovered from locked house in Pirojpur, tenant absconding

Police have recovered a large quantity of marijuana from a locked rented house in Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur. The drugs were recovered during a raid on a house named 'Mawlana Manzil' in Arambagh area of ward number 5 of the municipality on Friday (May 1, 2026).
Police said that in the raid conducted based on a secret tip-off, two sacks of marijuana wrapped in 15 packets were recovered from a locked room, weighing a total of about 30 kg. The estimated market value of the recovered drugs is about 1.5 million taka.
During the raid, the tenant Sajidur Rahman Majid (house, Choto Shaula village) fled after sensing the presence of the police. Efforts are currently underway to arrest him.
Mathbaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Rabiul Islam said that preparations are underway to file a case under the Narcotics Control Act against those involved in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
