Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) arrested three professional drug dealers including foreign liquor during an early morning operation in the Bypail area of Ashulia in Savar. Police said that important members of a drug trafficking ring were arrested in the operation conducted on the basis of secret information.
DB police sources said that a special team immediately conducted a drive there after receiving information that illegal sale of foreign liquor was going on in the Bypail area of Ashulia in the early morning. During the operation, 20 bottles of foreign liquor were recovered from the spot. At the same time, Rubel Islam Rashed, Sohag Ahmed Rabbi and Nur Alam were arrested red-handed on charges of being directly involved in drug trafficking.
During initial interrogation, the arrested persons confessed to being involved in supplying and selling foreign liquor in Ashulia and surrounding areas for a long time. It is believed that they were staying in the area for the purpose of selling the recovered drugs.
The DB police also said that a case under the Narcotics Control Act has been filed against the three arrested at Ashulia Police Station this afternoon. Later, they were sent to court after completing the necessary legal process.
The law enforcement agencies said that the anti-drug operation will continue and no concessions will be given to drug dealers. The DB police also said that such operations will be further strengthened with the help of the locals.
