The upazila administration conducted a mobile court operation against a trader on charges of illegally hoarding and selling stones.
The operation was conducted in the area adjacent to Buraburi on the Tetulia-Banglabandha highway on Monday (December 8) afternoon. The operation was led by Tetulia Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate SM Akash.
The administration said that stones, sand and other construction materials had been illegally piled on both sides of the highway from Buraburi to Banglabandha for a long time. This was creating a risk to movement on the highway. Based on the complaints of locals, the operation was conducted against those illegal hoarders.
During the operation, the stacked stones and sand were ordered to be removed and the trader concerned was fined Tk 30,000 for violating the environment and road management rules.
The upazila administration said that regular operations will continue against any kind of illegal hoarding and encroachment on both sides of the highway.
