Wife cuts off sleeping husband's penis in Pubail, Gazipur

A woman has been accused of seriously injuring her sleeping husband by cutting off his penis in Pubail, Gazipur. The incident took place in the Joynagar area on Sunday (November 9) morning. The accused wife, Meem Akhter, has been arrested by the police. The injured husband, Md. Akash (25), is currently undergoing treatment at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.

According to police and local sources, around 6 am, while Akash was sleeping, his wife, Meem Akhter, tried to cut off his penis with a sharp blade. Although it did not completely separate, Akash was seriously injured. The family members immediately took him to the hospital.

The injured Akash is the son of Tota Mia of Joynagar area of ​​Pubail police station in Gazipur. On the other hand, the arrested Meem Akhter is the daughter of Russell Hossain of Ag Dighlia village in Nagarpur upazila of Tangail.

According to family members, Meem Akhter is Akash's second wife. They got married based on a love affair. But since marriage, Meem suspected that Akash was having an affair with his first wife. It is believed that he committed this horrific incident out of jealousy and suspicion.

The incident created a sensation in the area. Some women from the local Bedepara got angry and beat Meem. Later, the police arrested Meem Akhter from the spot and took him to the police station.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Pubail Police Station Nazmul Haque said, “The incident is under investigation. After the initial interrogation, we are taking necessary legal action.”

Locals said that there has been widespread discussion in the entire area since the incident. Many have demanded strict punishment for the wife for such an inhumane incident.
