Lamb meat stolen from needy people in Sirajganj: Locals demand investigation

A theft incident occurred during the distribution of lamb meat from Saudi Arabia to the needy in Tarash Upazila of Sirajganj. This heinous incident took place on Wednesday afternoon near the Upazila Parishad mosque, which has created intense anger in the area.
It is learned that 164 cartons of lamb meat were allocated for 44 madrasas and orphanages in Tarash Upazila. Hundreds of people gathered at the Upazila Parishad premises after hearing the news.
In the absence of Upazila Executive Officer Nusrat Jahan, Ullapara Upazila Executive Officer Abu Saleh Mohammad Hasnat and Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Abu Said Mallick conducted the meat distribution activity under police guard.
During the distribution, Sultan Mahmud, a teacher at Mathurapur Women's Madrasa in Sadar Union, was passing through the road to the upazila mosque with a carton of lamb meat allotted to him when some youths forcibly snatched the carton of meat from him.
The victim teacher Sultan Mahmud said, "I never imagined that people would snatch the rights of the needy like this. May Allah judge them."
Meanwhile, the Sub-Inspector (SI) in charge Anwar Hossain denied the allegations of snatching and said, "Many people, including UNO sir, were present during the distribution. No snatching incident took place."
Ullapara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abu Saleh Mohammad Hasnat said, "I am not aware of the snatching. However, if we receive a complaint, we will talk to the OC and take legal action."
The incident has created a huge sensation among the locals. Locals have demanded a speedy investigation to uncover the truth about the incident and take legal action against those responsible.
