Housewife dies after being hit by a saw over tubewell water in Debiganj Upazila of Panchagarh

A housewife named Anjuara Begum (35) died after being hit by a saw over a dispute over tubewell water in Debiganj Upazila. The deceased Anjuara is the wife of Faridul Islam of Kharija Guagram area of Sundardighi Union of Debiganj Upazila.
According to police and local sources, on October 22 at around 2 pm, a fight broke out between the two brothers and their wives over the water from Faridul's elder brother Rahidul Islam's (38) tubewell flowing towards Faridul's house. At one point, Rahidul hit his younger brother's wife Anjuara on the head with a sharp saw. She was seriously injured.
Locals rescued the injured Anjuara and took her to Debiganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors sent her to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as her condition was critical. He died early Sunday (October 26) while undergoing treatment there.
The deceased's younger brother Zaman Sanai said that the body remained at Rangpur Medical College Hospital until 5 pm as the autopsy was not completed.
A case was filed against seven others at Debiganj Police Station on October 23, making Rahidul Islam the main accused.
Debiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sohel Rana said, "The case has been accepted and the main accused Rahidul Islam was arrested on the day of the incident. The matter of the deceased's death will be reported to the court in writing."
