820 kg of salted hilsa seized, distributed to madrasas and orphanages by the administration!

A huge quantity of salted hilsa fish has been seized in a joint operation by the forces in Sitakunda, Chittagong. On Wednesday (October 22), at around 10 am, 820 kg of salted hilsa fish were recovered in a joint operation by the Kumira Coast Guard, Kumira Naval Police and Sitakunda Upazila Fisheries Department in the Baro Kumira Ghatghar area.
Sitakunda Upazila Fisheries Officer Mutasim Billah led the operation. Kumira Naval Police SI Wahed and Kumira Coast Guard Petty Officer Mozammel Haque were present in the operation.
Fisheries Officer Mutasim Billah said that these salted hilsa fish were found stored in the house of Ayub Ali, a resident of Baro Kumira Ghatghar area. The fish were seized as per the provisions of the law and distributed among local madrasas, orphanages, hefazkhanas, temples and the poor people of the area as a next step.
He further said that regular operations are underway against marine fish stocked during the prohibited period or without permission. Such operations will continue in the future as well.
Local residents said that for a long time, some unscrupulous traders had been illegally stocking salted hilsa in the area. This operation by the joint forces has brought relief to the locals.
After the operation, the 820 kg of hilsa fish recovered were distributed among several local institutions and helpless families, and they expressed gratitude to the administration.
