A 35-minute video of Jane Alam Apu, the accused in the case of extorting crores of taka from the house of a former female MP in Gulshan, has gone viral on social media. In the video, he gives a detailed account of the incident and throws several questions at the law enforcement agencies and those concerned. On Wednesday (August 14) night, many people including journalist Jawad Nirjhar posted the video on their social media. It is believed that Jane Alam Apu recorded the video while he was in hiding on charges of extortion.

In the video, Apu said, "The boy who was seen taking the bag of money in the Gulshan extortion case is me. I saw through the footage that the coordinators were involved in extortion. The coordinator who was a hero last year, became an extortionist." He also said that at around 5 am on the day of the incident, he officially informed the DC and AC of Gulshan zone and went on a drive with the police. Apu also claimed that he had spoken to Advisor Asif Mahmud at a place in Gulshan before the raid.

Apu's question—"Why was the matter of the previous night covered up in the media? Why is there no information about the raid by law enforcement agencies in the morning? Shammi was at home during the raid, and fled after receiving information—why was this not published?" He challenged, "The two-and-a-half-minute video that made us villains overnight went viral, if you have the courage, release the CCTV footage of the previous night. Let's see whose phone Shammi left the house on. Also reveal what we talked about during the raid."

It is worth noting that Jan Alam Apu was arrested in a case filed at that Gulshan house on charges of extortion of crores of taka. There is already a lot of discussion on social media about the incident.
