Four people, including a father and son, died while trying to rescue a goat that had

fallen into an abandoned well in Madhupur upazila of Tangail. The incident took place on Saturday morning in Telkir Jolai village of Arankhola union of the upazila.

The deceased were local residents Babul Hadima, his son Neymar Mrong and their two relatives Ratan Nakrek and Gabriel Nakrek.

According to local sources, efforts to rescue a goat fell into an abandoned well in the morning. First, a teenager went down the well but there was no response from him. Later, a few more people went down one by one to rescue him. But they too could not come back up.

Realizing the situation, the locals informed the fire service. Later, rescue workers reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the four people and the goat from the well.

Initially, it is believed that the accident may have occurred due to toxic gas accumulated inside the well or lack of oxygen. However, the authorities concerned said that the real cause will be known after the investigation.

After the incident, the local administration and police visited the scene. The incident has cast a shadow of mourning over the area.
