Free seeds, fertilizers and agricultural inputs distributed to farmers to increase wheat production in Tetulia

Under the Agricultural Rehabilitation Incentive Support Program for the fiscal year 2025-26, free wheat seeds, fertilizers and necessary agricultural inputs have been distributed among farmers and agricultural workers in Tetulia Upazila of Panchagarh to increase wheat production in the Rabi season. This initiative of the government has received a huge response from local farmers.

The program was inaugurated on Tuesday (December 23) afternoon at the Tetulia Upazila Agriculture Office premises under the implementation of the Upazila Agricultural Extension Department. Abdul Matin, Deputy Director of Panchagarh Agricultural Extension Department, inaugurated the program by handing over the incentive seeds and fertilizers to the farmers.

Dr. of Panchagarh Wheat and Maize Research Institute were present at the time. Mohammad Farhad Hossain, Additional Officer of Panchagarh Deputy Director of Agriculture Office Subodh Chandra Roy, Tetulia Upazila Executive Officer Afroz Shahin Khasru, Tetulia Upazila Agriculture Officer Sabrina Afrin, Agriculture Officer of Agricultural Extension Department Jiban Islam and officials of the concerned departments were present.

The speakers at the event said that this incentive program is being implemented with the aim of increasing wheat production in the Rabi season and reducing the production costs of farmers. They expressed hope that farmers will get good yields through the use of high-quality seeds and necessary fertilizers.

Tetulia Upazila Agriculture Officer Sabrina Afrin said that wheat seeds, fertilizers and other agricultural inputs have been distributed to farmers of the upazila in groups of five each. She also said that this program will be expanded by including more farmers in phases.

According to the farmers, getting free seeds and fertilizers will reduce their production costs and increase their interest in wheat cultivation. They expressed satisfaction and gratitude for such a supportive initiative by the government.
