The police lathi-charged the agitators in the capital's ECB premises and stopped them at Paltan, Sciencelab, Dhanmondi and Mirpur. Many people were arrested at this time. This incident happened on Monday afternoon.
Earlier, a group of protesters gathered at the ECB premises. At that time, the police removed the agitators by baton charge and arrested some of them.
A police officer on duty said that the protesters were throwing bricks from inside the alley. They were later removed by the police. He said that some people were arrested at that time.
On the other hand, eight to ten agitators can be seen taking a position at Paltan intersection. Various slogans are also seen demanding the trial of student murder and the release of those arrested. The police stopped there.
At this time, traffic stopped at Paltan junction. The police took a strong position in front of the press club with a vehicle from this morning. At present, the road in front of the Press Club is closed to traffic.
The police arrested four students including a co-coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement from there.
It is known that one of the co-coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement and a student of Dhaka University, Mosaddek and Rafi, are among the four arrested.
Police arrested several protestors in front of Mirpur 10 in the capital and Star Kabab in Dhanmondi.
