A child tragically drowned in a pond in Tentulia Upazila

The accident occurred on Sunday (December 14) afternoon in Sharial Jot village of Tentulia Sadar Union of the upazila. The deceased Sumaiya is the daughter of Enamul Haque of that village.
According to local sources, while playing around the house in the afternoon, child Sumaiya fell into a pond some distance from the house without anyone's knowledge. Later, the family members started searching for her. After some time, the locals saw the child floating in the pond and quickly rescued him and took him to the Tentulia Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty declared him dead there.
Upon receiving the news, Tentulia Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Masud Karim Siddiqui rushed to the hospital.
Tentulia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Newcomer Md. Rasedul Islam confirmed the child's death.
As of the writing of this report, the child's body is in police custody at the outdoor emergency department of the Tentulia Upazila Health Complex.
