Two-year-old child drowns in pond in Tentulia

A child named Md. Singha (2) tragically died after drowning in a pond in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh. The accident occurred on Monday (November 3) afternoon in Mathaphata village of Tentulia Sadar Union of the upazila.
The deceased Singha was the only son of Saidul Haque of Mathaphata village. According to family and local sources, the child fell into a pond some distance from the house while playing near the house in the afternoon. After not finding the child for some time, the family members started searching.
At one point, locals saw the child floating in the pond and quickly rescued him and took him to the Tentulia Upazila Health Complex. However, the doctor on duty declared the child dead.
Upon receiving the news of the incident, Tentulia Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Masud Karim Siddiqui went to the hospital and expressed his condolences to the family.
Confirming the death of the child, Tentulia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Musa Mia said, “This is a tragic accident. Preparations are underway to hand over the body after completing the legal process in view of the family’s request.”
The child’s body has been kept in police custody at the outdoor emergency department of Tentulia Upazila Health Complex till the time of writing this report.
