The students blocked the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway for about two hours to protest the quota reform and the attack on the students. On Wednesday (July 17) at 10:30 am, they took a position on that highway. Traffic stopped on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway. They left the road after about two hours. Students of various educational institutions of the district have joined this movement.
Meanwhile, the toll collection at Bangabandhu Bridge was stopped due to the lack of traffic on the highway. As a result, the transports leaving from North Bengal got stuck on the bridge. Commuters suffer.
Earlier in the morning, students from different places took a procession and gathered at the bridge area. When a procession of students from Jokarchar was coming to the Setu Golchatwar area, it was blocked by the police in front of the Bangabandhu Setupurba police station. Later, the students ignored the barriers and the procession came to the roundabout.
Students said that the quota system should be reformed. Besides, we want justice for the way innocent students were killed. The movement will continue till no solution is found.
Alamgir Ashraf, OC of Bangabandhu Setupurba Police Station, said that the students had taken a stand in the roundabout area of the highway. They are asked to leave the highway. After they left the highway, the traffic started.
