A fire has taken place from a gas cylinder in Khaleda Zia Hall of Islamic University (EB). The fire occurred from a gas cylinder in the dining hall on Thursday (19 September) around 5:30 am. This caused panic among the resident students of the hall. However, there were no casualties.
Half an hour after the fire broke out, a student stopped the cylinder cable and extinguished the fire with a wet sack. The fire service said that this happened due to loose connection in the cylinder pipe.

It is known that a new cylinder was installed in the dining gas stove of the hall yesterday. Later this morning when a cook named Khatun went to light the gas stove, a fire broke out from the mouth of the gas cylinder pipe. Later, a student went to the spot and shut off the gas cylinder line, which extinguished the fire. When the fire service personnel of Kushtia Sadar Upazila reached the spot around 7 am, they analyzed the cause of the fire.
In this regard, Kushtia Sadar Upazila Fire Service leader Rafiqul Islam said, 'The incident of fire occurred from a gas cylinder. There was a loose connection in the cylinder pipe. As a result, when the cylinder is turned on, fire occurs. We checked everything, safe for now. It is understood that the hall manager was negligent for the incident.'
The resident students of the hall said that after Fajr prayer in the morning, they suddenly saw a fire in the dining room. Later panic spread among all the students in the hall. We call the emergency number (999) immediately. We have to stop using gas cylinders if we demand. Fire extinguishers should be installed and everyone should be made aware of their usage. Besides, they demanded the construction of a fire service station near the campus and also demanded renovation of the hall.
In this regard, the resident teacher of the hall. Ershadul Haque said, I informed the fire service immediately after giving me a call. Besides, when asked about the demands of the students, he said that the use of gas cylinders has been stopped in the hall and fire extinguishers will be installed on an emergency basis by Saturday.
Nargis Khatun, who is in charge of the hall's dining manager, said that due to electrical problems in the hall, the heater has been stopped for the time being. One stove is not possible for us to cook in two places. As a result, gas cylinders have been used for several days. Films have used gas cylinders before. But today's incident is unexpected.
Incidentally, there have been multiple fires due to electrical accidents even before this. As a result, the two-year girl students have been shifted to the teachers' quarters.
