After Sheikh Hasina resigned and ran away in the face of the strong movement of the students, the family did not find the body of Hriday Tangail, who was 'shot dead in the victory procession' even after 40 days.
Mother Rehena Begum is still waiting, she wants to touch her dead son for the last time even if he does not come back alive.
Hriday (20) is the son of van driver Lal Mia of Alamnagar Madhyapara village in Alamnagar union of Gopalpur upazila of Tangail. Hriday, a 12th class student of Hemnagar Degree College, used to drive an auto-rickshaw in Gazipur's Konabari area to support his education and family expenses since his father fell ill.
After the fall of the government on August 5, a joyous procession took place in front of Sharif Medical, Metro Police Station, Kashempur Road, Konabari. His sister-in-law Ibrahim and friend Robin were with the procession.
Both of them stated that they saw Hridiya fall to the ground after being shot by the police and their body was taken away. But after trying again, Hriday's body was not found in the hospital morgue or anywhere else.
Ibrahim said that after watching the video of the incident, the relatives confirmed the death of Hriday.
After waiting for 11 days, on August 26, a murder case was filed against 57 people at Konabari Police Station, said Ibrahim, Hriday's sister-in-law and the plaintiff in the case.
According to the family, Hridoy was a brother of two sisters. The two sisters got married long ago. Baba used to drive rickshaws in Lal Mia area to support the family. But Lal Mia could no longer work due to illness.
After being forced to pay for the family, Hridyo started driving auto rickshaws in addition to studying in May. At that time parents lived in a sister's house.
Hridaid's house in Alamnagar was found to be dilapidated. Mother Rehana Begum is mad after losing her only son. He cries all the time with his son's clothes kept at home, various prizes won in sports and sits looking for his son's way. Father Lal Mia is also devastated by the loss of his son. He does not understand how his family will run in the future.
Hriday's father Lal Mia was saying, "I live with my wife in the house of the elder daughter's son-in-law. The boy lives in a dilapidated house. The boy used to drive an autorickshaw in Konabari.”
On the day of the incident Lal Mia asked my son to come home. But heart said, will go with brother (sister-in-law).
“Father never came back. Now I want my son's body back."
Hriday's mother Rehena Begum said, “We went to work in Konabari for food and education. I paid 10,000 rupees in installments and gave my son to learn to drive. The boy will drive the car.
"Who will pay the installment now? My son was shot by the police. Return my son's body, I will see. I want to catch him. I want justice for my son's murder.”
Narrating the events of that day, Hridoy's friend Robin said, on the afternoon of August 5, a joyous procession took place in front of Sharif Medical, Metro Police Station, Kashempur Road, Konabari. They went along with Hridiya, Ibrahim in that procession.
He said, "We took a stand in front of the Metro police station. At that time the police fired tear gas and fired to disperse us. Many were shot. We were on one side. And the heart was on the other side. Then Hridiya was hiding beside a house in fear. From there, the police caught him and took him to the road and beat him up."
"We were watching this from a distance," Robin said. I thought, maybe they will leave after beating. But they shot dead. At this time, shots were fired all around. Couldn't move forward due to fear. I just watched and saw his death."
“I thought, when the environment calms down, I will bring his body. Later the police took away his body. After 12 o'clock that night, only his bloody lungi was found where he was killed. But the police did not know where they kept the body."
Later, when he went to inquire around, Robin got a video of the incident that day from some people.
Hriday's sister-in-law Ibrahim also told about watching that video. He said the video was taken from a nearby house. He said that he watched a few such small videos.
Another witness of the incident. Hamid. He has a shop in Konabari. Hridiya was in front of that shop before the procession. Hamid also saw his sister-in-law.
He was saying, “I forbade him to go to the procession. Still they joined the procession. Sister-in-law Ibrahim saw from a distance how Hridiya was shot dead by the police. But no one dared to go forward due to fear.”
Demanding that those who killed be brought to justice and punished, shopkeeper Hamid said, "Hrid's body should be returned to his family."
In one of the few videos, 10-12 policemen can be seen holding a young man and beating him on the road. Then he is surrounded and beaten. Gunshots are heard all around. In the meantime, the young man was suddenly shot and fell on the ground.
Later the policemen left from there. Then again four policemen came there. Two of them are carrying him by the hand and the other by the leg.
In another video, three people are seen dragging the body of the youth into the alley. The sound of heavy gunfire is still heard around. Then the three left his body. A little later two people came and took the body further into the alley.
Hriday's sister, Jasmin Akhter, said that on the day of the incident, she had her last conversation with her brother on the mobile phone. He then asked his brother to go home. Then he inquired about his husband Ibrahim.

After half an hour, Ibrahim told his wife Jasmin about the death of his heart. Then Jiasmin called Hriday's mobile again. Then someone picked up the phone and said that he picked up the mobile phone on the street.
Ziasmin Akhter was saying, "Brother's hope was to study and get a job. Food will be given to parents. But the police ended that dream. I want justice for those who killed my brother. May the name of the brother be in the register of martyrs in the independence of the country.”
