17 dealers did not deposit money to pick rice, food friendly program

In Jessore's Sharsha upazila, 14 of the 31 dealers of the food friendly program have deposited money for rice harvesting. 17 dealers have not deposited money till now.
The government sells rice at subsidized prices through these dealers. Sources in the office of the District Food Controller said that from September 9, money was started to be deposited in the bank for the extraction of rice through challan receipts.
According to sources, a municipality and 11 unions of Sharsha Upazila will sell rice at the rate of Tk 15 per kg during the months of September, October and November under the food-friendly program. A cardholder can purchase 30 kg of rice.
The period for receiving official invoices for buying rice for this program has started on September 9. 9 and 10 September
Out of 31 dealers in Sharsha, 14 dealers have deposited money for picking rice. None of the 17 dealers have deposited money for picking rice.
Upazila Food Control Officer Salma Chowdhury said that a letter will be issued from the Upazila Executive Officer's office regarding which dealer will sell rice. In this case a tag officer will be appointed. Then the dealers will pick up the rice. Upazila is the same rule for food friendly programs.
Upazila food controllers said that till September 22, the rice harvesting time has been fixed. If no dealer moves within that period, an alternative decision will be taken.
