In Chilmari, Kurigram, a UP chairman has been accused of tearing a check of Rs 4 lakh for the project. The accused chairman's name is Md. Abdur Razzak Milan. He is the general secretary of Thanahat Union A-League of the upazila and Thanahat UP chairman. A video of victimized UP member Mahfuzar Rahman's cheque-splitting statement is doing the rounds on social media.

It has been reported that Mahfuzar Rahman, a member of that ward, was the president of a homestead upliftment project in the 7th ward Rajarvita area of ​​Thanahat Union of the upazila under the homestead upliftment project of the non-governmental development organization Nationr Development Program (NDP). Thanahat Union Awami League General Secretary and Union Parishad UP Chairman Md. Abdur Razzak Milan tore a check issued in the name of UP member Mahfuzar Rahman for the project work for Tk 4 lakh. A video of the aggrieved UP member Mahfuzar Rahman's statement of the check being torn was seen floating on social media.
UP member Mahfuzar Rahman said, an NDP homestead elevation project is being implemented in my area. A check of Rs 4 lakh was issued by the project in his name as expenses. He deposited the check in the bank last Thursday (September 5) along with the secretary of the Parishad. On Sunday (September 8) when he went to withdraw money from the bank, UP chairman and local Awami League leader Abdur Razzak appeared at the Milan bank. As the check was issued in my name, the vengeful chairman started a quarrel with me. At one point, the chairman tore the project check in his hands.
UP member Mahfuzar Rahman also said, this time he (Chairman) said, you cannot withdraw money here. If you need money, come home and settle the account and give the money there.
Union Awami League General Secretary and Union Parishad UP Chairman Abdur Razzak Milan said that the complaint is false and baseless. I have not torn any kind of check. And I still have that check. How will I have the canceled check?
Shah Alam, manager of the Non-Governmental Development Organization (NDP), said, "I am not aware of this matter." Necessary action will be taken if such complaints are received.
Agrani Bank Chilmari branch manager Monirul Hasan Tanin said that the check was canceled due to internal problems of the member and chairman.
