Tangail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hasan Bin Mohammad Ali has been withdrawn following the students' demand for giving a chance to a UP chairman accused in the murder to give a speech in the event of providing financial assistance to the family of Maruf Hasan, a school student who was killed in Tangail.

The incident started when Kartia Union Parishad Chairman of Tangail Sadar Upazila Khalekuzzaman Chowdhury Majnu gave a speech at the financial donation ceremony for the families of martyrs and the treatment of the injured in the anti-discrimination student movement organized at the Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium on Thursday (September 5). Later, Chief Guest Tangail Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Qaisarul Islam tried to pacify the students of the anti-discrimination student movement.
But the students present demanded the arrest of Majnu Chowdhury and started raising slogans demanding the withdrawal of the Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer to give opportunity to the UP chairman involved in the murder in the presence of Shaheed Maruf's mother. The District Commissioner requested everyone present to go to the District Commissioner's office. Later in the afternoon, the students sat in front of the office instead of going to the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office.
The Deputy Commissioner appeared there and informed the students that Tangail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Hasan Bin Muhammad Ali has been withdrawn from Tangail and attached to the Ministry of Public Administration. The Ministry of Public Administration will take the next decision in this regard. But the present students demanded Hasan bin Muhammad Ali to appear there and apologize to the mother of Maruf Maruf. UNO, which was withdrawn in the face of massive protests by students, appeared there and apologized to Maruf's family and everyone present for the incident.
