Alleging corruption and irregularities, 7 UP members have filed a complaint against the Chairman of Union Parishad (UP) No. 9 of Tangail's Kalihati Upazila and the General Secretary of Union Awami League. Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Shahadat Hussain confirmed the matter.
Members of Balla Union Parishad filed a written complaint with the Kalihati upazila executive officer, deputy commissioner, deputy director, local government and anti-corruption commission on Tuesday, August 27. Before this, they held an emergency meeting and decided to file a complaint against Chairman Farid Ahmed.

It is mentioned in the complaint that within two years and nine months, Chairman and General Secretary of Union Awami League Farid Ahmed was involved in various irregularities. Despite repeated warnings, he continues to be irregular. He embezzled money himself by becoming president of various developmental projects without paying any honorarium to UP members.

When I went to the upazila, I found out that our mobile account chairman has given the account to his own number except the chairman. The chairman embezzled our money by changing the account. He also said that although there is a rule that 30-35 people should work on the project in 40 days, only 8-10 people work for 10-12 days.
Ward No. 7, 8, 9 reserved UP member Salma Khanom said that the chairman has embezzled government money without spending it on development projects since taking office. Apart from this, the chairman is conducting all the activities by a single decision without coordinating the various activities of the council members. He embezzled about 80℅ of the Union Parishad's allocation and 90℅ of the extremely poor workers.
Ward No. 1 UP member Saiful Islam said that after the election on November 28, 2021, a meeting was held on January 3, 2022. No meeting has been held since then. Without any regular consideration of party influence, without coordination with UP members, various developmental allocations of the government TR, Kabikha, ADP, Immovable Property Transfer Tax 1℅, LGSP, Development Assistance Fund, Super Poor Programme, EGPP Scheme, Holding Tax, Trade License Also embezzled by his own people without depositing it in the council.
However, Balla Union Parishad Chairman Farid Ahmed said about these complaints of UP members, Ward No. 1 UP member Saiful Islam has signed by intimidating other UP members. When asked about the absence in the council, he said, I told the executive officer that I am sitting in my office in Rampur Bazar for my safety. I will go to the Parishad only if the situation is normal. At the time he said,
There is no basis for the complaint. False accusations have been made against me regarding money for various development projects.
