A husband and wife were electrocuted while trying to trap foxes in Ankh field in Tangail's Ghatail. The incident took place in Hamkura village of Rasulpur union of the upazila on Sunday (August 25) morning.

The deceased are farmer Md Arshed Ali (65) and his wife Rahima Begum (52), son of deceased Naeem Uddin of Hamkura village of Rasulpur union of Ghatail upazila.

According to local residents, farmer Arshed cultivates ankh next to his house. To prevent theft of ankh from the field, electricity is connected around the field. Rahima Begum was electrocuted first when she went to the field carelessly without turning off the electricity connection before the incident. When husband Arshed went to save his wife, he was also electrocuted. They died on the spot. Later the police came and recovered the two bodies.

Chairman of Rasulpur Union Parishad Kazi Mahbubul Haque Masud said that the farmer Arshed's own ankh field is kept by electricity connection around the field to save it from destruction. Both husband and wife died due to electrocution in the morning.
