Gani Mia of Sherpur returned as a corpse while trying to change her fate

Gani Mia went to Dhaka to collect loan money. He used to drive rickshaws for rent in Mohakhali, Dhaka. After driving the rickshaw every day, he would deposit it in the garage and return home. On July 19, he was having tea at a tea shop by submitting a rickshaw, while clashes and shootings were going on in the anti-discrimination student movement. At that time, a bullet hit the chest of Gani Mia who was sitting in the tea shop. Local people rushed him to the hospital where he died. His family found his body on July 22.

A family of five, there is no arable land in the village. The house is his last possession. Gani Mia went to Dhaka to drive a rickshaw to collect loan money. But in a change of fate, he returned to the village as a dead body. He was the only earner in his family. However, his mezzo son Suman Mia, who works in a welding machine shop in the village, aged between 13 and 14, used to give some support.
His family is distraught as the only breadwinner dies in a family of poverty. His mezzo son Suman Mia is now in charge of the family. Some kind of family is running with that which generates income. However, this family is disoriented due to debt stress.
Gani Mia's wife Sabuja Begum said, 'My husband went to Dhaka to drive a rickshaw to reduce the debt of the family. Now my husband has come as a dead body. He used to drive a rickshaw in Mohakhali, while he was having tea at a tea shop in Nakhalpara, when there was a clash. At this time, two bullets hit my husband's chest. He died when the people there took him to the hospital. On July 22, we found his body.
He also said, 'They are shooting at my husband. It has become difficult for me with three children. The situation is bad as the debt burden drags on. Now I don't have a husband, Polada earns some income and continues with it. I don't understand what will happen next. My elder brother passed SSC and got admitted in college. Oh, you provide us with jobs so that we can survive. There is nothing but furniture in the house, creditors sometimes come to the house. We have not received any government support so far.
Shahnajan Ali of that area said, 'They are very poor people. Earlier it was the house of father-in-law. Borrowers are buying these houses, two and a half percent of the land is their only asset. Gani Mia was working outside, they were trying to do well, suddenly she was shot dead by the police in the Kaira students' movement. The uneducated people of the village drove rickshaws to Dhaka to change their fortunes, to reduce the debts of their families, and came dead. Now the family is very difficult. No government support has been received. Tell everyone to cooperate with them.
Gani Mia's father Shaib Ali said, "My sister went to Dhaka to drive a rickshaw." I do not understand that I will return as a dead body. I will see who his two dogs and his wife are. I am also an old man, my pet died before me. There is nothing but the house, what to eat and how to live. There is no one to earn a living for the family, farming has become very difficult now.
Regarding Gani Mia, Srivardi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Jaber Ahmed said, we are collecting the information of those who died and sending it to the DC office, from there we are trying to deliver the government donations to those families. I have not received the application regarding Gani Mia. But I have confirmed that he died. On receipt of their application I will forward it to the DC office, their official support will be conveyed very soon.
