The Islamic University (IU) campus has been rocked by protests in protest of the stabbing of a lawyer by an ISKCON member in Chittagong.
On Tuesday (November 26), students gathered at Zia Mor from various halls of the university at around 9:30 pm. Later, they started a protest march from there.
The procession circled various roads of the campus, went around Sheikhpara Bazar adjacent to the campus and met in front of the main gate for a rally.
During the procession, students were seen raising slogans such as 'ISKON's address, it won't happen in this Bengal', 'Why did Saiful Bhai die, the administration wants an answer', 'Delhi or Dhaka, Dhaka or Dhaka', 'ISKON's agents, be careful', 'No compromise, struggle, struggle' etc.
The students said at the rally, 'In the mass uprising of 24, students and the public, regardless of religion and caste, have brought down the dictatorship through movement. To maintain the communal harmony of this country, Muslims have guarded the temple day and night so that Hindus can worship safely. But the evil group ISKCON is repeatedly trying to destabilize the country by using Hindus. As part of that, ISKCON brutally killed lawyer Saiful Islam in Chittagong today. We strongly condemn and protest this. All those involved in this heinous act must be brought under the law and punished immediately.'
It is worth noting that a lawyer named Saiful Islam Alif (35) was hacked to death by ISKCON in Chittagong. The incident took place in front of the Rangam Community Center near the court at around 3:30 pm. He is the son of Jamal Uddin of Chunati village in Lohagara upazila. He is a member of the Chittagong District Bar Association. His death was confirmed by Nurul Alam Ashek, in-charge of the Chittagong Medical Police Outpost.
