Two thieves caught in IU handed over to police

The university security staff caught a thief red-handed while stealing a water tap at the Islamic University (IU).
The incident took place on the third floor of the university's Science Building. Later, according to the information given by the thief, they arrested another thief from Sheikhpara Bazar adjacent to the university.
The security staff arrested two thieves on Sunday (November 24) afternoon. They were later handed over to the police.
The two arrested are Haider Ali (27), son of Gias Ali of Kamalapur area of Kushtia Sadar, and Nahid Hasan Dhrub (25), son of Abdul Motaleb of Chaudhary area of the same upazila.
It is learned that on Monday around 1 pm, thief Haider Ali was opening the water tap of the washroom on the third floor of the Science Building. At that time, the security guard on duty caught him red-handed and brought him to the proctor's office. A water tap was found in the bag he was carrying. Later, based on the information he provided and with the help of journalists, the security personnel arrested the thief's assistant who was staying at Sheikhpara Bazar and brought him to the proctor's office. Later, they were handed over to the police at EB Police Station around 3:30 pm.
In this regard, the university's proctor, Professor Dr. Shahinuzzaman, said, "We have not taken any decision regarding the case yet. We will go to the police station later and take a decision so that legal action can be taken against them."
It is worth noting that for the last 15/20 days, it has been reported that various things, including water taps, have been stolen from various buildings of the university. The university's security officers were already on alert. As a result, the thief was caught red-handed while committing the theft.
