The final of the 2030 FIFA World Cup could be held in Casablanca, Morocco. Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, has stated that Morocco plans to host the World Cup final in the city.
He shared this information during an interview with the Spanish news agency EFE on Thursday (September 10).
However, FIFA has not yet officially announced the venue for the 2030 World Cup final. There is competition between Spain and Morocco to host the event.
Massive Stadium Under Construction
To host the final, the Hassan II Stadium is being built in the Benslimane region, approximately 60 kilometers away from Casablanca.
According to reports, the stadium is being constructed at a cost of nearly $12 billion and will have a seating capacity of around 115,000. Once completed, it could rank among the largest football venues in the world.
World Cup to be Held Across 6 Countries and 3 Continents
The 2030 World Cup is set to be one of the most unique editions in football history. For the first time, the tournament will be held across six countries spanning three continents.
The opening three matches of the World Cup will take place in the South American nations of Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Subsequently, the main phase of the tournament will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Portugal, and Spain.
Although FIFA has not yet made an official announcement regarding the final's venue, Morocco is positioning the Hassan II Stadium—currently under construction in Casablanca—as the leading contender.
