Sabbir Rahman returns to BCB team after four years, will play in Malaysia series

After a long four years, experienced all-rounder Sabbir Rahman has found a place in a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) team again. He has been included in the Bangladesh Hyperperformance (HP) team announced for the upcoming T20 series against Malaysia.

On Tuesday, the BCB announced a 15-member HP team for the two T20 matches against Malaysia. The team will be led by SM Meherb Hasan.

Sabbir Rahman last played for Bangladesh in a T20 match against Pakistan in Christchurch, New Zealand in 2022. After that, he did not get a chance in the national team, but he was performing regularly in domestic cricket. After a long break, this experienced cricketer is getting a chance to prove himself again by returning to the BCB HP team.

The announced team includes Sabbir Rahman, SM Meherb Hasan, Shamim Hossain Patwary and Rakibul Hasan as all-rounders. The batting department includes Zeeshan Alam, Jawad Abrar, Ariful Islam, Mohammad Rubel and Pritam Kumar.

The spin department will be led by Swadhin Islam, Rakibul Hasan, Shamim Hossain Patwary and Sabbir Rahman. On the other hand, the pace attack includes Mohammad Mrityunjoy Chowdhury, Abdul Gaffar Saqlain, Abu Haider Rony, Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi and Iqbal Hossain.

The Bangladesh Hyperperformance team will play two T20 matches against Malaysia at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on August 8 and 10.

In addition, the Bangladesh Under-23 team will participate in a three-match ODI series against Malaysia at the Bashundhara Sports Complex on August 12, 14 and 16.

The BCB said that the Hyperperformance team that participated in the Malaysia series will also represent Bangladesh in the Top End T20 tournament held in Australia.
