Jason Gillespie's journey will begin with the series against Bangladesh after announcing Pakistan's squad for the Bangladesh Test with multiple surprises. The Test coach of Pakistan cricket has kept many surprises in that team. Jason Gillespie dropped pacer Shaheen Afridi as vice-captain in his first series. Instead of vice-captain Afridi, Saud Shakeel will act as Shaan Masood's deputy against Bangladesh.

Shaheen Afridi is not responsible due to fatigue. Pakistan will play 9 Tests, 14 T20Is and at least 17 ODIs between August and April next year. There is also the country's franchise league PSL and other domestic tournaments. Afridi is therefore on rest from the vice-captain's duties in view of workload management. Although his name remains in the squad.
Regular opener Imam-ul-Haq is not in this 17-man squad. He has been completely ignored. Hasan Ali and Mohammad Wasim Jr have been ruled out due to injuries. Familiar faces like Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Noman Ali and Sajid Khan are missing from Gillespie's first Test squad.
Instead of stars like Hasan Ali or Afridi in pace bowling, Auji coach prefers Nasim Shah and Mohammad Ali. Both are returning to Test cricket after a long time. Mohammad Huraira and Kamran Ghulam are coming in as the batsmen. There are 13 players in this series from the last series against Australia. Huraira, Ghulam, Muhammad Ali and Naseem Shah have been added to the squad.
