Senegal's 18-year-old promising goalkeeper Sheikh Toure lost his life after failing to pay ransom. The country's Foreign Ministry has confirmed the incident.
Toure, who was training as a goalkeeper at the 'Esprit Foot Yembele' academy, was kidnapped by a fraudster gang. The gang took him to neighboring Ghana on the pretext of giving him a trial at a foreign club. Then, Toure's family was asked for a large ransom. However, when his family failed to pay the ransom within the stipulated time, Toure was brutally killed by the fraudster gang.
A joint investigation into the incident has been launched by Senegal and Ghana. The process of returning Sheikh's body to Senegal is underway.
