Although there is a public holiday in Bangladesh today (Saturday) on the occasion of the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH), football fans in the country are in a busy time. Today, two football teams of the country are taking to the field in two separate competitions.
Bangladesh U-23 team, i.e. “Morsalins”, will play in Vietnam. They will play against Yemen in the qualifiers of the AFC U-23 tournament. The match will start at 3 pm today. Bangladesh must win to stay in the group; even if there is a draw, there is a slight possibility of becoming the group runner-up, but there will be almost no chance to play in the main stage. Italian expatriate Fahmidul Islam will play in this match.
On the other hand, the Bangladesh national team will travel to Nepal, where Jamal Bhuiyan will play. The match against host Nepal will start at 5:45 pm Bangladesh time today. However, regular goalkeeper Mitul Marma is not playing in today’s match due to injury.
Both teams are playing these matches as preparation for the Asian Cup qualifiers in the September FIFA window. Just when the Morsalins will leave the field in Vietnam, Jamal Bhuiyan will represent Bangladesh in the field in Nepal.
