Pakistan to withdraw from Legends League, PCB says

After finishing runners-up in the World Championship of Legends (WCL), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to participate in the tournament in the future. The board has taken this decision due to the ongoing political tensions with India and repeated hostile behavior in the tournament.
India Legends boycotted the group stage match against Pakistan in the current edition. Later, the Indian team refused to face them in the semi-finals. As a result, Pakistan got a ticket to the final without playing a single game, which led to widespread criticism. The PCB believes that the incident has greatly undermined the spirit of cricketing camaraderie and sportsmanship.
In a statement, the PCB said that several decisions by the organizers have called into question the atmosphere of their participation. In the words of the board, “The decision to cancel the match was not made for any cricketing reasons, but rather to please a specific nationalist agenda.”
The statement added, “We cannot allow our players to participate in any competition where politics and intolerance take over the spirit of sportsmanship. This undermines the very reputation of cricket as a ‘gentleman’s game’.”
The PCB’s stance has drawn mixed reactions in the cricketing world. While Pakistan’s decision has been applauded, there are also allegations that the organisers have not expressed regret for the situation.
