The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has finalized three venues to host the upcoming National Cricket League (NCL) T20 tournament. BCB Chief Program Coordinator Minhajul Abedin Nannu said that after the success of last time, the decision has been taken to expand the tournament this time.
The tournament was held on a limited scale in Sylhet last season. The BCB organized the first edition of the NCL T20 before the BPL to evaluate the preparation and performance of local players. This time, an initiative has been taken to organize games at three venues to take the acceptance and preparation of the tournament to a more professional level.
Nannu said, "Last year, the tournament had to be held in a hurry. This time, we are planning with time. The tournament committee has selected three venues and instructed the grounds committee to prepare."
Although the tournament schedule has not been officially announced yet, the matches are likely to be held between September 15 and October 4.
Like last year, eight teams will participate in the tournament—seven divisional city teams and Dhaka Metro. It has been recognized as an official T20 tournament approved by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
According to Nannu, “As far as I know, the NCL T20 can start in the second week of September.”
It is worth noting that this initiative of the BCB has been taken to improve the T20 skills of local cricketers and further strengthen the domestic structure. Source: BSS
