After eight years, the final stage of the Champions Trophy is starting on February 19. The ICC has announced the names of match officials for the group stage of this year's 8-team ODI tournament. And the Champions Trophy will begin with the Pakistan-New Zealand match in Karachi on February 19. Bangladesh's Sharfuddaula Ibn Shaheed will officiate in this opening match. England's Richard Kettleborough will be his partner. Joel Wilson will officiate as the TV umpire, and Alex Wharf will be the fourth umpire. Andrew Pycroft will be the match referee.
Sharfuddaula will officiate in two group stage matches. After the opening match, he will also officiate in the Afghanistan-England match in Lahore on February 26, with Joel Wilson as his partner. Sharfuddaula will also be the fourth umpire for the Afghanistan-South Africa match on February 21 and the TV umpire for the South Africa-England match on March 1.
Bangladesh's first match is on February 20, with South Africa's Adrian Holdstock and Australia's Paul Reiffel officiating the Bangladesh-India match. The final match of the group stage is against Pakistan in Rawalpindi on February 27, with Holdstock and Michael Gough officiating.
