There are many legends in Brazilian football history, but Rivaldo's name will definitely be at the top. His role as an important member of the Brazilian team that won the 2002 World Cup was undeniable. However, now the young star Neymar Jr. is trying to add his name to his place, which has sparked controversy.
The incident began in a podcast called 'Charla', where another Brazilian legend Romario asked Neymar where he would like to see himself in the 1970, 1994, and 2002 World Cup winning teams. In response, Neymar took the name of Rivaldo from the 2002 World Cup winning team.
Angry at this statement, Rivaldo posted on social media, where he said that although he respects Neymar's talent and skills, the story could have been different if he had played in his place in the 2002 World Cup. Rivaldo added, "I was very focused and committed to winning the World Cup, and I'm sure that no one in the team at that time could have replaced me."
Neymar replied, "My friend, calm down. All Brazilian footballers are fully focused and dedicated to playing in the World Cup. I will never belittle your achievements." He added, "Since I was only asked to replace one of the three, would you have liked to see me replace Ronaldo or Ronaldinho?"
Meanwhile, Neymar's current club situation has been the subject of speculation. He has not been registered for the second half of the season with Saudi club Al Hilal, and there are various discussions about his future. Some reports suggest that Messi could return to Inter Miami or his boyhood club Santos. Santos club released a video created by artificial intelligence, in which Neymar can be heard saying to the legendary Pele, "Come home, Neymar."
