The Indian Cricket Board has announced its 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy to be held in February. One of the best pacers of the time, Jasprit Bumrah, has been conditionally added to the team. Along with this, Mohammed Shami has also been kept in this important tournament. Hardik Pandya is also a member of the team.
All three pacers last played for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup, but they have not played an ODI match since then. The new face in the Champions Trophy team is the young left-handed opener Jashasvi Jaiswal, who has played several Tests and T20s but has not yet made his ODI debut.
The Indian team has three all-rounders - Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are worried about the middle-order batting. Rahul is also in the wicketkeeper role, as an alternative to Rishabh Pant.
Rohit Sharma will lead India in the Champions Trophy with Shubman Gill as his deputy.
Bumrah recently suffered a back injury in the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar series in Australia. However, he has been kept in the squad and will be ready to play once he recovers from the injury. India's first match will be against Bangladesh in the UAE on February 20.
India's Champions Trophy squad:
Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Jasswi Jaiswal.
