Bangladesh were invited to bat after losing the toss at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday (December 9). The Tigresses set the visitors a target of 124 runs at the end of the stipulated overs. In response, the Irish women anchored the port of victory with 1 ball to spare.
The small target set by the Jyoti Bahini proved difficult for the Irish. The visitors needed 15 runs in the last over to win the match. Laura Delaney hit 4 off the third, fourth and fifth balls of the 20th over bowled by Swarna Akhtar to win the match. Bangladesh lost the match by 4 wickets. With this loss, Nigar Sultana Jyeti's team was whitewashed by Ireland in the three-match T20 series 3-0.
Batting for the stipulated run target, the visitors got off to a great start. The two openers Hunter-Lewis made an opening half-century partnership. They lost their first wicket for 55 runs.
After the fall of the first wicket, the Irish lost some steam. Three more batters were dismissed one after another to add another 15 runs to the team scoreboard. However, Irish batter Laura Delaney secured the victory by hitting three consecutive fours from the third to the fifth ball of the last over of the match.
For Bangladesh, Rabeya Khan took 2 wickets for 10 runs. Nahida Akhtar and Jannatul Ferdous also took 1 wicket each.
